Hi Lee, Just an email to say a big thank you to yourself, Mark and team for providing a fantastic New Year's Celebration. The evening could not be faulted from superb food, service, entertainment and atmosphere. We recently spent New Year at an award winning bistro in Scotland (featured on the Hairy Bikers Show) and I would have to say that your food was as good if not better. Hope your bistro flourishes as it deserves it. Once again many thanks. Des Beamson
I would like to take the opportunity to highlight the opening of the new Bistro 53 in Spennymoor, it's really good to see local people and more importantly local business people taking an active lead in promoting town centre regeneration. This Bistro has opened at exactly the right time with a menu to suit all tastes and pockets serving fine food and fine wines. Lee and his team have created the perfect niche that Spennymoor has been waiting for, it's been a long time coming and now that it's here let's give it and all our other local businesses the support they need. If we want Spennymoor town centre to be successful, it's this kind of foresight and the eagerness to support the community that we need. Ian McLaren
May I through the columns of your paper congratulate the owner, staff and chef of the newly opened Fifty3 Bistro situated on Cheapside. This weekend has been the opening of the premises for Sunday lunch, we had the pleasure of having visited there and what a superb feast we had. The food was well presented, plentiful, tasty and extremely good value for money served by friendly helpful staff. It is nice to have such a facility on the town, even though we reside in Aycliffe, and we will certainly be regulars as it is brilliant. Can I suggest to your readers that if they haven't visited this place yet, then do so as you are missing out on a rare treat in today's modern fast food environment. We wish the premises every success and I'm sure it will succeed if it keeps up its present standards. Well done Fifty 3 and keep it up. Steve Wild & Bev Stones Newton Aycliffe via SpennyNews

Best Pizza I've ever had and the Tiramisu was fantastic too! Shaun Mayo
Why go into Durham when you have excellent quality and superb value food on your doorstep. We'll be back, count us as one of your regulars. Nicola Shaw
We visited Fifty3 in April after hearing nothing but good reviews from friends and colleagues. Although we were sceptical that a restaurant in Spennymoor would be as good as made out we are pleased to admit that we were totally made to eat our words and we take our hat off to the owners, staff and chefs who made our night so enjoyable. The food was fantastic and the service providing it was just as good. The live musician with her guitar was a nice little touch. We've been back twice already and look forward to many more enjoyable evenings there in the future. Rachel Pascall
